Alex Schweizer returns to lead the festivities once again in 2026! Born on April 1, 1962, Alex is a Swiss-Italian-American mix who is far more than just a cheesy nice guy.

A native Floridian, Alex is happiest basking in sunshine, an enthusiasm he enthusiastically shares with Tryon’s canine leadership, the Dog Mayor. When asked about the honor of parading alongside Tryon’s four-legged royalty, Alex replied, “Any day that celebrates dogs, silliness, and community is a good day in my book.”

Accompanying Alex is Grand Duchess Katie Terry Schweizer, who would like the people of Tryon to know that Alex is “at least 80… maybe 85 percent good boy, depending on the day.”
